I come from a large family and each yr growing up we would make fresh hot cookies for Santa right after the Late mass for Christmas EVE . That meant that it was usuallyabout midnight –if not later. As we got older it was a way to just re-connect.

My favourite memory is of having a house full of people for Christmas breakfast. We always had people stopping in through the day to eat and say hello.

I think my all-time favorite memory was from last year. We planned on taking a trip to CA to see Hamilton. My daughter had been begging to see the play for at least three years. We finally found tickets that weren’t a mortgage payment. The last present she and her sister opened was an envelope, asking if they were ready for an adventure. Inside was a picture of The Hollywood Sign and the Hamilton star. One cried because she was going back to CA, and the other because she was going to see Hamilton. Unfortunately, the pandemic happened and we didn’t get to go. But I will always remember them crying happy tears.

Growing up we went to a fancy dinner followed by a sleigh ride and hot chocolate every single Christmas Eve, which is also my birthday. As a kid my father made sure Christmas Eve was always extra, extra, extra special!

We observed a specific tradition each year when I was growing up. On the day after Thanksgiving, my grandfather would take my sister and I into the woods behind our house and we would select our Christmas tree and bring it back home on our extra-long sled. While the rest of the family was out Black Friday shopping or recovering from their turkey comas, we would set up the tree in the living room and decorate it together. This is my favorite holiday memory and one of my favorite memories period
